Chores
I love this laundromat! They actually do my clothes for me – like many people in the city, I don’t have a washer/dryer. They also have a fabulous dog named Deborah, who I call my “rental doggy” – I take her to the park in nicer weather. I love this old building and the sign. This neighborhood has a very eclectic mix of architecture and people.
luxury to have your clothes taken care of and ofcourse it’s a nice place (they do have a dog 😉 ) I like old buildings like you and I hope you will show us more of the achitecture around
You will! There are so many beautiful old buildings here. My house is 100 years old.
I can imagine that you love this place, I think, if I were there I would love it, too. Nice story you are telling: beeing lucky, to have a rental doggy …
I hope to get pictures of Deborah in the spring. She is getting so old, though.
This really shows the urban feel of the neighborhood. I like the tags and the rust stains from the window screen.
Another cool image from NYC. The busted up sign adds so much charm. I have lots of rental dogs myself. My cats don’t know about them.
Ha! The cats always know! They are just smart enough to let you think they don’t know. It’s a jedi mind trick thing 🙂
I would love to see a close-up of that brickwork Nice Laundromat!
The building has great texture. Nice image.
Definitely projects the mood of your surroundings, nice!
Great way to make a chore interesting. Love the building and texture.
This place looks so interesting, on the street level! for some reason when I think of laundromats I imagine a dark, dank basement somewhere – where nothing clean could possibly emerge from.
they do a great job, and I know the whole family (They are from Taiwan). I still can’t figure out how they fold my fitted sheets they way they do.
Interesting building and I imagine it has lots of history. Oh, if walls could talk.
All those different weathered surfaces and textures make for a fascinating photo.
This building really has character. I remember how fascinated I was with laundromats as a youngster and doing laundry in them as a college student–never have had anyone do my laundry for me except when daughter #3 comes home and does mine along with her 2 weeks worth (or more) of dirty clothes. I would feel quite pampered to have someone wash and fold my clothes!
Having your laundry done for you must make you feel like royalty! But, it seems like it would take some of the fun out of the laundromat! I used to enjoy sitting and watching the different people waiting for their clothes to dry……kind of like an airport…..lots of stories to invent about them. I haven’t been to one in years and in fact, they’re hard to find out here in the suburbs!
I like your shot. It has some of the grittiness of the city but still seems to convey that this is a place worth visiting.
Your processing really pulls out the grunge…this little business is so cool, it really tells something about the area!
Interesting building. The processing works well with this image.
thank you!
I am enjoying your shots of life in the city. Although a little over an hour away from where I am, it is a different world.
thank you! Where are you?
This is nice. I love the grunge sort of feel to it. Would make a nice backdrop for portraits.
The texture in this shot caught my eye first, then the character of the building. Nice that you get your laundry done. Can l send you mine too? :0)
