My first Five babies are here. Many more to come – not only is the cherry tomato plant ripening, but two plants with bigger tomatoes have started to turn in the past two days. Here they are on a paper towel and a bit over-processed, but there is something I still like about this shot. Maybe I just think my babies are gorgeous like any mom does 🙂

  1. I like the contrast between the smooth tomats and the textured paper towel, and especially like the little blast of green on the stem. I also like eating tomatoes that actually have flavor.

That’d make a nice card for a dinner invitation.

  2. I love your over-processing, it’s turned these tiny tomatoes into superstars, leaving the stem on one of them was a nice touch. (It’s hard to be subjective about your offspring)

  3. I like that you didn’t try to hide that little boo-boo on the tomato in front and placed some of them upside down for the shot. Even though arranged, that gives it a natural feel. I like the processing too.

  4. Congratulations on your new additions. Red colors seem to be very challenging with digital images and I very much like the processing you chose here, it lends a graphic edge.

  5. Well, aren’t you the proud parent? I imagine you stopping people on the subway and showing them this photo. You have a right to brag, Mother. I do hope people aren’t turned off when you tell them you eat your young, but that is their problem.

  6. Beautiful. I’m a terrible gardener, but tomatoes are one of the few things that I’ve managed to grow. I really feel your joy in the first harvest; they’re a great thing to watch and nurture.

    Hope they taste good!

  7. Beautiful fruit beautifully rendered! I’ll bet you ate them slowly, with your eye closed, savoring every bite.

  8. I like your processing! You have taken ordinary (hesitated to use this word with home grown tomatoes) tomatoes and made them something special.
