I was in Valley Forge, PA last week and finally went to the parts of the park that have remnants of George Washington’s stay.

These are the houses where his “secret service” people lived. They had to build them, too. I’d say it’s a good example of Minimalism.

However, Washington himself had digs which were a little nicer. Here is the house that served as his headquarters while he was there.


His bedroom wasn’t too shabby, either.


There were some visitors who were allowed to sleep in the main house. They slept like this:

  2. Interesting. I never really thought whether George Washington had Secret Service protection. Thanks for the “Paul Harvey” moment, for now I know the rest of the story!
